RTI's New Year Resolution

Here at RTI we're big on New Year's Resolutions.  A chance to refresh, renew, reenergize.  It's a great opportunity for reflection, but also a prime chance to commit to a new routine.

Of course the most common resolutions include losing weight, decluttering, saving money.  So in that same vein, our resolution for 2015 is a company-wide commitment to wellness.

What is wellness, exactly?  There's a lot of talk about this concept in the news, on social media, on the radio.  Many probably interpret wellness to mean "healthiness," which isn't wrong, but there's more to it than that.  The University of California-Davis has recently defined wellness as "an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life.  Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth."

UC-Davis further lists eight "dimensions" of wellness, including: emotional, occupational, environmental, physical, intellectual, social, financial, and spiritual.  Each of these aspects of wellness RTI intends to embrace through our efforts this year.

Our company has long been a strong supporter of our community and our relationships.  We make an effort to participate in a wide variety of outreach initiatives, and 2015 will be no different.  However, we'll be shifting our focus to participate in events that support wellness.  One great example is the 6th Annual Take Stock in Children of Manatee 10k/5k/Fun Run scheduled for Sunday, March 1, 2015.

Take Stock in Children is a wonderful cause:  the organization helps deserving children achieve success academically and personally, by providing mentoring and scholarships.  The money raised by Take Stock is matched dollar-for-dollar by the Florida Pre-Paid College Foundation, helping to boost opportunities for motivated youth in our community.  So not only is Take Stock an incredible non-profit here in Manatee County, the race and fun run are a great way to get the family out on a beautiful Saturday morning for a little exercise.

We'll also be sharing health and wellness tips and articles that we find inspiring for families and homeowners in Florida.  As health insurance agents, we have a strong desire to help our clients and friends live happily and healthily.  RTI hopes to be a great resources for our clients and friends.  Remember to follow along with us here in the blog, as well as on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and Pinterest.

Look for our new mascot, Arti the Eagle, at these types of events in the Lakewood Ranch / Ft. Myers / Apollo Beach areas this year!  Also, if you have any suggestions for events where we might like to participate, please email us here.  See you out there!
